highlights?
Q. I am a natural blonde and am currently coloring my hair dark brown (revlon colorsilk). I would like to add a couple of very thin golden brown highlights in my hair but am not sure what's the best way to go. Should I bleach the strands first and than apply new color or would one of those high lift colors do the job? Any suggestions? Thanks

A. if you want to die your own hair then do it, but whne your going from blonde to dark brown you should really get it professionaly done, with highlights you should never try and do em' yourself, go get them done

A. ok well what color is ur hair bc the color pulse thing for the blonde color only works if you have light or dark blonde hair get some blond highlights out of a box at CVS or another drug store

Is it possible to highlight hair with actual dye instead of the boxed highlights from the drugstore?
Q. I want to highlight my hair, but I don't see any colors in the highlight section that would look good with my hair color. I was wondering if I could just highlight my hair with a dye that I bought in the store. Instead of doing my whole head, I would just do it as if I would do normal highlights. Is this at all possible?

What color of highlights would look good with blonde hair?
Q. I have dishwater/golden blonde hair. I'm wanting to get highlights but am not sure what color would look good. I want something that will blend in and show at the same time. I'm wanting to try it temporally before I get them permanent. My junior prom is May 2nd and I am on the committee. So I really want to make sure i get my highlights before then. Any ideas? A. I have extremly dark hair as well. Almost black...actually some say black lol. I would definatly go with a red and blonde. Thats what I wanted last time I went and I ended up with caramel highlights, which were ok, just not what I really wanted. Most of the time, they will have little pieces of hair...or fake hair I'm not sure lol, to show you the color it will turn out like. If i were you I'd just call and ask if they have those. if not, they'll have books to look at :) wish you luck!

How do I avoid blonde highlights from showing after I die my hair brown?
Q. Naturally my hair is chestnut brown, but I've been highlighting it with lots of blond streaks for the last year...I want to go darker for the fall but I'm afraid that if I simply die it all one color brown, eventually my current highlights will start to show through. That would even be ok if it wasn't for the 2 inches of ugly roots. So my question is, what can I do to keep my hair all one brown color and not have it fade away and allow my current highlights to show?

A. very emportant thing most people don't know is your shampoo must not contain sulphate. If you don't have a sulphate-free shampoo it will strip your hair of the dye. It may take a wile to do this with a dark colour but it will impact it greatly. Good luck with your hair. Oh and you may need to dye it a second time ifvthe colour doesn't bond with the bleached streaks

A. I love carmel highlights with brown hair! Don't go with too much blonde highlights, it'll look forced and unnatural. Try something "real" and natural first then you can always add more colors. So I say carmel highlights.

A. Purple is awesome, and it looks natural until natural sunlight hits and then it's like POW! I suggest a deep deep blue or a medium blue, along with a purple. it would be cool, subtle, but still very "exotic". black is...well, skunky. It's very 2003 Nichole Richie, and lime green is a bit too extreme. Stay within the reds, purples, and deep blues and you'll get a cool subtle and wicked effect.

A. Hi! If you have your highlights put just underneath the top layer of your hair, you will still be able to them just not from the root so then when they grow out, the hair laying on top of them will cover your roots! I had this done myself and think they call it 'slicing' - don't quote me on that though as that might not be the right term!! Good luck!

If I was to get highlights, would I expect the blonde to fade to darker or lighter color? A. Get highlights a few colors lighter than your natural color if you don't want them too bright. Use a purple shampoo to keep them from changing color.

A. subtle-do a darker brown all over. more-almost black all over dramatic- dye it black EXTRA- bleach blond streaks in a few places on top of black.. then colorful(neon pink)(or purple or blue) on top of the bleach againist the black.

A. Highlights blend two or three shades of color for a hand-of-nature effect. A highlight lightens and brightens the hair - Blonde and gold tones. Streaks is a method is used to achieve more lightening on the ends of the hair (It is more natural this way, as hair should always be darker on the base of the hair shaft or the root area), and less on the roots as with traditional highlights.

A. if your hair is dark.. maybe you might want to get highlights thare are like a brighter carmel brown .. it looks nice. i got highlights that were slightly lighter than my regular hair.
