Do you approve of colored contacts? And what color should you get if you have dark eyes? Wouldn't blue be horrible? What color would look natural?

A. I would get a nice violet - but that wouldn't look natural. I like my natural color which is hazel. It goes well with any coloring.

What color should I paint my walls?
Q. I just installed red oak hard wood floors in my living room/ dining room area. The trim is all builder grade oak (kinda darker), not the best, but I can't replace it without replacing all the doors in my house - too expensive right now. My walls are a camel yellow and a much darker marigold yellow as an accent, I've always hated the wall color but haven't had the time to change it. Problem is, the light reflects off the floors and gives all the walls an orangeytint and it looks even worse. Needless to say, I don't want the hassle of trying to find the right shade of yellow so I'm looking for other color combinations that would be good. Preferrably a darker color for an accent wall & a lighter color on the rest of the walls. My boyfriend… [cont.]

A. Since your wood is a very warm shade, I'd go completely opposite to provide a nice contrast. On the color wheel, red is opposite from green so they are complimentary colors. Full saturated colors would look like Christmas, but I'm referring to more dulled down "dirty" sophisticated colors. Since your oak has a reddish tint, I'd go with a nice, neutral olive or sage green or if you want a teeny bit more color a nice celedon green (similar to sage, but has less brown in it and a little more blue-green. It's still a nice neutral) Be sure not to go too "primary" or mint with the green or it can look unsophisicated. Get several color swatches and pin them to the walls in your area and look at them at neumerous times during the day. Color can… [cont.]

How does a color become an official color for baseball umpires?
Q. At any given tournament, you will see umpires wearing navy blue, powder blue, black, cream, grey, white, red, etc. I know MLB's official color is black, and their alternate color is the polo blue with a navy collar. Minor league's official color is navy blue from what I've been told. How does a color get to be a color that umpires can wear? I know it's an odd question, but i've been wondering for a while. Thanks!
Asked by nutz2203 - Tue Jul 10 16:32:38 2007 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. For the MLB umpires it is voted on when a new color is proposed. Currently the black primary and powder with black trim secondary are the colors of choice. For the minors, it is decided upon by the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues and the Professional Baseball Umpire Corporation in contract with an official uniform supplier. When I umpired in the Minors (1997-1999) +POS was the official supplier for our game uniforms.

A. choose a color that won't take away from the beauty of the floor but compliment it Honey can be tricky with its orange undertones so stay away from yellows ,oranges, reds, beige's and taupe's .Best for resale would be a light grey based sage or light grey based blue.I generally use Benjamin Moore paints they're more true to color than others i've used check out benjaminmoore.com for ideas

A. you should play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find something you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours: I think it would look really sharp to paint the fireplace "Tricorn Black" (# 6258)?

A. 1] find a print with the three colors in it - red, yellow, blue - for drapes and throw pillows. 2] paint walls a neutral color - white or ivory; rosy beige or warm beige, or pearl gray. Keep floor neutral also. 3] repeat the three brights in accessories - lamps, vases, candles, ornaments, flowerpots, candle holders/sticks. 4] frame all artwork in similar color and material - brass/chrome, oak/walnut, etc.

A. Hi, If you have a brush with the whole tree on it, pick any color, put it on your canvas, create a new layer on top of your tree clip it with the layer underneath ( hold down the alt key and put the mouse between the two layers you will two circles overlapping) set the blending mode to color brush again but this time a round one pick green for the leaves and paint the leaves pick another color and paint the rest, ctrl, atl, shift E, will merge all the layers onto one on top of the others one, and you can start adding some effects style like drop shadow, bevel and emboss and so on.

What color furniture should I buy for an orange living room?
Q. I am in the process of painting my living room an orangey-gold color. The next room is camel colored, and the main accent wall is chocolate brown. My carpet is a dark burgundy-brown color. I am not sure what color to go with for the sofa and love seat. I want leather, but I am torn between black or a dark chocolate brown. Any advice?

A. I would definitely go with the brown over the black. Black can look a bit severe, and the colors you're working with already are so wonderfully warm :) They have some really beautiful leather furniture at TheFurnitureDomain.com A chocolate leather furniture set that looks amazingly comfortable and stylish is this one from Stratford The price is pretty great too when you consider everything included. Also, this store offers completely free shipping on every order, no matter the size, which can save you a ton of money! Hope you find something you love - your colors sound awesome!

What color should I paint a professional office?
Q. I need some suggestions on a color for an office. It is not a home office, it is my actual work. The desk is light grey. I am a female in my late 20's if that helps with color suggestions. Also, there is fluorescent lighting. The current color (glossy light blue) intensifies the light and it is very harsh on the eyes. Maybe a color that can minimize this?

A. If you are painting your office, then you don't have a choice. If you can choose the color, then either it is a home office, or you are the owner of your corporation and it doesn't really matter.

So I would recommend you go to Sally's Beauty Supply there you can buy your 8N color and have it match beautifully. It is also much cheaper than box color. Make sure you buy 20 volume developer. Black: Lime green, light blue, light purple etc. (easter pastels.) Bay: Personally I love navy on bays. Hunter green is nice too. Chestnut: Again navy and hunter green look nice. If the mane is lighter then gold looks cool, if not it looks kinda funny. dark brown: I find they look good in creamy colours and lilac. Dapple Greys: Same as Black except slightly darker. Piebald(b&w): Light blue and light purple. Skewbald(b&w&brown/w&brow n etc.): hunter green and navy Dun: navy, hunter green, purple!!! Palomino: Lilac! Light blue!! What do color-blind people see in place of colors which look alike to them?
Q. I am green-and-brown color-blind. When people ask me what I see in place of green and brown, I don't know what to tell them. People with normal color vision can't describe the colors they see and I can't describe the colors I see. So I don't know whether I see both colors as green, both colors as brown, or both colors as a color which is unknown to people of normal color vision. Has science come up with an answer for this?

A. I LOVE your question! Both my brother and father were green - brown color blind. But I have a son that has a variation including red. Until I worried so badly about my little boy being "vision impaired" the question didn't come much to mind! A not-so-honest doctor diagnosed my son as TOTALLY color blind at age THREE. That was a blow to me to say the least. But I took him to a specialist that said he was "too young" to be even tested correctly. He did some tests and DID say he had some problem with "red." I don't think he was ever tested again. WHY? Because I decided that making an "issue" of it was "not fair to him." He either WAS or he WASN'T but one thing for sure, he was born that way so what he saw he "accepted" and didn't MISS… [cont.]

What is the best color scheme for my new bedroom?
Q. I am moving into a new home and my bedroom furniture is dark brown in color. (Chaplin bedroom set with Rooms To Go). I really want to paint my bedroom a dark color, but I don't want it to clash too much with my furniture. What color should I paint the room? I don't want it to stay 'white' or 'light' in color. Is there a dark color I can paint my room so that it will still look good?
Asked by Sky Cole - Mon Sep 1 18:50:00 2008 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments

A. One of my favorite tools for figuring out color schemes is this website. If you click the create link on the side it will take you to where you can choose a type of color scheme (Analogous, Complementary, ect.) So choose one, and make one of the colors the same as the color of your furniture. Then as you drag the other colors around, the program automatically keeps the colors within the scheme you choose. This could help you figure out other colors that look good with it.

What hair color looks good on light skin?
Q. I have naturally dirty blond hair and I want to dye it blonder ... my skin is very fair, I guess sort of neutral colors, and whenever I've tried putting my hair goldy, it makes my skin look flushed and I look washed out, too pale colors can also make me look gray. but sometimes ditto for ash colors. Oh and I have blue eyes I dunno if that helps at all, and thick wavy hair. I've been thinking about Reese Witherspoon's color, too yellow maybe?
