A. depending upon the color brown of your hair black will just not show well . Now if your hair is light brown it will show up . Medium or dark brown ..don't waste your time or money. I looked for pictures but like you, ( because I know you looked) Couldn't find any really good ones that woul show up well. Brown hair looks great with red, auburn or burgundy highlights

A. You mean bright red? Assuming you have blonde - brown hair that hasn't been colored many times over, here's what you do: Go to the beauty supply store and buy black dye, level 20 developer, a packet of powder bleach (I prefer loreal super blanc), level 40 developer, red/gold corrector, a bottle of red manic panic or punky color dye, two mixing bowls, two brushes to apply color, gloves, and a processing cap. You'll also need aluminum foil, vaseline, good conditioner, and an assistant. First, tear the foil into strips- about four inches wide, and a bit longer than your hair. Mix 1 part bleach, two parts 40 developer, and about a teaspoon of red/gold corrector in one bowl. Section out the hair that you want to color red and clip the… [cont.]

Q. I am a mixed/black girl going in 6th grade. I really want highlights or lowlights in my hair. My mom wasn't sure if I could do it cause most of the things they make in stores are for "white girls hair" my mom says. I want pics, website, methods, and ideas. Thanks!

A. Can your mom take you to a wig store where you could try on wigs of black hair that have highlights in them to see how you'd even like the look? I think you'd have to be very experienced in applying hair color over time, to know what looks good with your particular skin tones. I have seen some black women who absolutely had no clue as to what color they should have used and how brash or harsh looking some colors make black hair. Especially blond or deep red tones that come out more purple than red. I would go to a salon in a neighborhood which specializes in black hair do's. They've got the knowlege of what has to happen first before even coloring. Maybe there is a pre treatment required for the type of hair you have. I know from… [cont.]

A. ^ Reported? Wtf? Anyways, you can see my hair in the picture, and just the other day i got highlights, they were more of a chesnut color, and also, there are blonde streaks in it. It looks really good and i didn't think that it would, haha. But They the 'Triangle Method' on me and basically it just left the bottom layer my natural color. Over all i really love it. I'm not a fan of caramel highlights though. But that's just personally. (:

What original colors are good for highlights for black, Asian hair?
Q. I'm Asian and I have black/very dark brown hair. I've never dyed my hair before, but recently I've grown bored w/ my hair so I was thinking of getting highlights. What colors would be good? I'd prefer not to get the boring reddish-brown that all Asians seem to have when they get highlights. Do you have any original ideas for highlight colors? Preferably nothing TOO unique either, like green, blue, etc. haha.

I have dark brown hair with golden blond highlights. Can I dye my hair black at home?
Q. So, I have dark brown hair with thick golden blond highlights that I hate, but have delt with for more than 6 months. Can I dye my hair a "cool" black without the highlights making a large difference? Also, does anyone have any tips for dying at home? Thank you!
Asked by Brianna - Sun Sep 23 13:54:16 2007 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments
A. You can do it at home but you may have to do it more than once (Not in the same day) dye it and if your blonde still shows up light condition really well and wait at least 4 days to do it again. If you do it back to back it will cause your hair to become gummy like ... damaged bad!

If someone with brown hair gets black highlights will they show up?
Q. So I'm thinking of getting black highlights, but since I have brown hiar some people think they won't be visible. I don't have that dark of brown hair. Thoughts? Pictures? thanks.
Asked by xxxturtlegurlxxx@sbcglobal.net - Mon Jan 15 21:59:54 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Actually, going darker would be considered low lights. Depending on how light or dark you hair is, yes, they will show. They will not be very noticeable if your hair is dark, though you say here it isn't. If there is more than one level of difference it will be more obvious. Keep in mind, black will not fade or go away after a time. If you do it, with few exceptions, the low lights are pretty much there to stay until they are bleached out or cut out.
